UniFO in Worten Spain

Worten is a Portugal's leading retailer of electronics and home appliances equipments with more than 100 stores in Portugal. As part of the company's internationalization plans, in 2008 Sonae acquired 12 Boulanger stores in Spain.

The Challenge

Rather than simply applying the Worten sales process used in Portugal, it was decided to add services already familiar to Spanish consumer such as pre-sales and commissioning. At the time, these requirements were new to UniFO.

The challenge was clear: it had to be ready in time for the launch of the new stores in less than three months after the acquisition notification.

Tlantic was chosen to offer its proven front office solution as well as to customize it to fulfill the latest business requirements and legal specifications of the new market.

The Solution

The whole process was driven by Tlantic management process which guides the software development life cycle and controls the business requirements evolution.

UniFO was conceived to be multi-cultural so many of the internalization features were already supported by the product. The customization project focused mainly on developing the new requirements and legal constraints. The development began as soon as the project had been set-up. The framework behind UniFO quickly provided the structure to safely add the new requests and the already existing features of the product enhanced the preparation of the launch process, including configuration and personnel training.

As a result, the launch was achieved in the stipulated timeframe and UniFO was consolidated as the single front office solution for all operations of Sonae Distribuição.
